BRIEF BIO

Doobo Shim is currently Professor of Media & Communication at Sungshin Women’s University, Seoul, Korea. He previously served assistant professor at the National University of Singapore, and visiting scholar at Duke University, USA. He does research on the media and communication within critical, cultural and historical perspectives while his recent research has focused on the rise of Korean popular culture and film in Asia. His research has been honored by several academic societies including the National Communication Association (USA), and at the Global Fusion Conference. He has been an editorial board member of many academic journals including Journal of Fandom Studies and Asian Communication Research.
